Venue focus: Stapleford Park

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009
On Thursday I visited Stapleford Park with one of my clients marrying there in 2010.

This was the first time I have visted the venue and it was truly stunning. Not only was the upkeep immaculate but the staff were friendly and professional at all times. When I arrived staff were waiting in the carpark to take my bags for me. Throughout the day they asked whether we required further refreshments. The service was such that I’m wondering if I can convince my husband to whisk me away for a weekend!

You can hire the venue on an exclusive basis or just the rooms you require for your ceremony, drink reception and wedding breakfast.

Little touches for your guests

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Sometimes its the little touches that guests remember and I’m not talking about the design, I’m thinking about things that makes the day easier and more relaxed for your guests. Some of the things I have done in the past which has worked well at weddings are:

  1. Provision of suncream on a hot summers day
  2. Provision of hand fans for ladies on a hot summers day
  3. Basket of essentials in the toilets (hand cream, hairspray, brush, sewing kit, nail file, hair grips, body spray, tissues)
  4. Transportation to and from hotels so guests dont have to drive nor pay for a taxi
  5. Welcome packs in hotel rooms for out of town guests (map of the area, list tourist attractions, mini essentials, scented candle, hangover cure, sweeties)

What touches do you plan to include on your wedding?

Rachel Stevens Mood Board

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

On Sunday 2nd August Rachel Stevens and Alex Bourne were married at Claridges Hotel. You can read all about the wedding in OK magazine. Rachel choose a design that was pure white and glamorous, I decided therefore to create a mood board based on Rachels theme .

Pretty, Pretty

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

As you well know, I plan and design a lot of country weddings and parties, therefore anything ‘pretty’ always catches my eye. I tend to think hmmm, where can I use it…

So, I was delighted to see some of the new stock available at Decorative Country Living. I especially love the little zinc baskets, I can see them on patio tables with little plants or used as welcome baskets for out of town guests. Priced at £4.95 they are reasonable as well. What would you use it for?

Queens College - Oxford

Monday, August 10th, 2009

On Saturday I visited Queens College in Oxford with some clients marrying there next July. This was my first visit to ‘Queens’ and was thoroughly excited about viewing this truly historical establishment. My bride went to Queens College and always said this was where she would be married one day. The chapel was truly stunning; unfortunately none of my photos could possibly do it justice.

Being summer the college itself was quiet although the high street was awash with tourists visiting the area. The College is not generally open to visitors although tours can be arranged by contacting the local Tourist Information Office.

Seaside Mood Board

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

As many of us are jetting off on our holidays I thought it appropriate to have a seaside mood board. I think blue is so fresh and clean, it looks fabulous at weddings.

Crumbs! I love you…

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Last week I was contacted by Crumbs regarding their cupcakes for future events I was holding. As you know I’m always happy to talk ‘cakes’! I especially love the fact they offer a mail order service perfect for saying ‘Sorry’, ‘I miss you’ or how about ‘Will you marry me?’. Their prices start from £1.50 making them affordable as well.
