Thanksgiving Day

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Tomorrow will be ‘Thanksgiving Day’ mainly celebrated in America and Canada. But what is ‘Thanksgiving’? In essence it is a harvest festival when people give thanks for the harvest, now people use the holiday to give thanks to everything and everyone positive in their life. It tends to be a large celebration with friends and family, and the food? Well turkey of course!

If you are holding a thanksgiving dinner this year then we hope the below board will inspire you.

Ideas for planning a DIY wedding

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Recently I contributed to an article Rachel Holmes was writing for the Guardian namely ‘Recession-busting wedding ideas’ . The article explains how to save money and get exactly what you want by planning a wedding ’staycation’ in the countryside.

As many of my followers know I specialise in country weddings and in particular marquee functions so could relate to what she was saying. You can read the article via the guardian website and very soon I will be bringing you a new blog series covering practical advice for marquee functions.

Real Wedding: Josephine & Gordon Pt2

Monday, November 16th, 2009

At the end of August 2009 I planned the wedding of Josephine and Gordon in Newmarket. We had been planning the wedding for 2 years so it was wonderful seeing all our ideas come together on the day. I will miss our afternoon tea meetings with Josephine! Whilst Lisa was at the church I was at the marquee supervising the final design touches and welcoming the many entertainers we had booked. Next week I will highlight some of the suppliers used in this beautiful wedding.

We thought you would like to see their thank you as well:

I would highly recommend Dream Occasions, our wedding was a huge success, attention to detail was excellent and working with Bernadette was great fun.

Just wanted to show this beautiful snow fairy with you from Anonymous Statues . I’ve used the statues before at weddings and are a brilliant talking point.

I was recently contacted by artist Tanya Short from Lebigkiss who is based in the wonderful Loire Valley in France. A renowned artist whose work has been commissioned by IKEA, CCA Galleries London and The Art Group. Alongside her printed art she produces the most stunning cake toppers ranging from £15 - £70. Some previous toppers are below but do pop along to her site for more inspiration.

Client feedback

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

As part of my continuing development as not only an event planner but as a growing business, I always ask my clients for feedback. I ask clients to rate the quality of my service as well as areas in which I can improve. Next year I hope to have some statistics to show you once I have collated the last few years!I have just received a form back from Daniel and Aniela and they have blown me away with their praise. There is too much to share with you although current clients can read the full version if they wish to when we meet up. I have however included some snippets below.

“I would recommend you to anyone, and also would recommend having a wedding planner, though I would point out that it’s really important to gel with your wedding planner as you spend a lot of time together at a point when your emotions are a bit taut – so you really need to get on!”“You have an amazing eye for design. The whole thing looked absolutely stunning and was even better than I hoped.”

“When my work went mad 8 weeks before the wedding, I honestly do not know how I would have coped without you.I thought the way you just took over and dealt with all my panicky emails (some of which only said “B – please deal” as I literally had no time to write any more) was awesome.”

Real wedding:Josephine & Gordon Pt1

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

At the end of August 2009 I planned the wedding of Josephine and Gordon in Newmarket. We had been planning the wedding for 2 years so it was wonderful seeing all our ideas come together on the day. I will miss our afternoon tea meetings with Josephine! We had arranged for guests to be transported via a vintage coach thus ensuring they arrived on time. Lisa (planning assistant) was in attendance at the church ensuring all those buttonholes were pinned in place and after the ceremony she assisted with the confetti shot. Next week I will show you the stunning marquee reception in Norfolk.

We thought you would like to see their thank you as well:

I would highly recommend Dream Occasions, our wedding was a huge success, attention to detail was excellent and working with Bernadette was great fun.
