How to Really Enjoy Your Wedding Day

After all the hard work and sleepless nights planning your wedding, it’s not the easiest thing in the world to just flip a switch and relax on the day! So how can you make sure you really enjoy the happiest day of your life?

Don’t Rush
Everybody says it and everybody is right – your wedding day goes by so fast. For so many couples, all the hard work, stress and effort that went into planning their wedding ends up pretty much wasted on them because there wasn’t enough time in the day.

So if you want to make sure you actually get to go in that photo booth and taste a piece of the cake you took two months to decide on, you have to loosen up your wedding schedule. Plan plenty of time in between the key parts of your day so you get to spend time with your friends, family and each other!

Delegate
It’s very hard to enjoy your wedding when you’re running around doing last minute prep yourself. Laying out placecards, picking up shoes, checking in with suppliers – does it all really need to be done all by yourself? Take advantage of your family and your bridal party at this time, it’s what they are there for, and just focus on the tasks that only you can do.

When you’re planning the day itself, make sure everyone knows what they are meant to be doing ahead of time, so you avoid any micromanaging on the day and unnecessary bridal stress!

Sleep and Eat
Such a basic thing but you’d be surprised how many brides forget to do both of these in the days leading up to their wedding. Get plenty of rest the night before – it’s a marathon of a day and you’ll want to be energised enough to enjoy every moment. Plus, there’s only so much a photographer can do with eye bags!

Remember to eat breakfast the morning of your wedding. It will feel like the last thing you want to do with all those butterflies taking refuge in your stomach, but it’s the best thing for you. Besides, celebratory champagne + hungry bride = no fun.

Hire Experts You Trust
You’ve been planning this day for months, maybe even years! It’s hard to hand over control of the day to the suppliers you have entrusted to make it go smoothly. Which is why it’s so important to have total faith in the team you have working on your wedding and confidence that they can make it a day to remember. Quash any fears or last minute questions you have with your suppliers well in advance to avoid panicking about anything the morning of your wedding. Then you’ll be able to relax and know that the experts have it in hand.

That’s why having a wedding planning team like Dream Occasions there on the day is such a life-saver for brides. We are there to manage all the suppliers and ensure your dream day goes exactly to plan and leave you to enjoy the day!

Find Each Other
You’d be surprised how many couples we work with who say they actually don’t remember spending that much time with their new husband or wife on their wedding day! So much else takes your attention – posing for photographs, catching up with old friends – it’s easy to lose each other! Make sure you take little moments out from the day to be alone together, and really let it sink in that you’re celebrating your wedding day.

Laugh
With the best will in the world – some things just do go a little bit awry at weddings! Tiny things that seem so terrible at the time like tripping over a line in your vows or breaking a heel on your shoe. You have to remember to laugh, and release the tension! Remember what you’re doing here in the first place and any tiny hiccups won’t seem so bad! Besides, they make for brilliant stories.
