Winter Dinner Party Themes

Why wait for Christmas? This new cold weather is the perfect reason to gather your family and friends together for a good old-fashioned party. And for me, a party is not a party unless it has a theme to tie it all together. But if you don’t want to go down the Santa hats and reindeer route, is there anything left?

Scandinavian Chic

Hygge is the new lifestyle trend to sweep the nation in recent months. It’s the Danish word that doesn’t even have an English translation. Hygge is lighting candles, it’s eating good food with friends, drinking wine and generally feeling happy and cosy. Sounds like a winter party I’d like to be invited to.
A Scandi-inspired celebration would mean warming wines and cosy furs. A backdrop of outdoorsy elegance, with open fires and wooden accents.

Family style dining with seasonal cocktails, alongside an evening buffet of marshmallows and tiny bites. Followed by hot chocolate or vin chaud.

For seating, go for luxurious pillows and throws to get the ultimate cosy feel. Use lots of foliage and greenery in your decor, to get a foraged (but thoughtfully styled) look!

Winter Wonderland

Invite guests into your own elegant winter wonderland, this theme is so versatile and works well as an intimate dinner party or indeed a larger celebration in a marquee.

Go for white on white with your dessert buffet for guests to treat themselves to after a delicious sit-down meal.

Keep the theme going by making your dress code white too, and have your guests blend into the snowy scenes!

Go East

Why go for snow when you could have the exotic, luxurious Orient? Bright Christmas red and green makes way for deep, opulent red and gold.

Instead of the busy, over-the-top traditional Christmas party, an Asian theme allows for a sleek, minimal design with lots of detail. Give the room an authentic look by decorating your tables with Chinese good luck coins and sweet paper fans.

Your party menu should be bite-size and filled with flavour. Mini tasting glasses filled with a simple Asian noodle salad, satay and fun fortune cookies are your solution for dessert. They also make for great interactive decorations!

I hope you enjoyed my Winter Dinner Party Themes!
